The Biomass Action Network was created in 2018 under the umbrella of the Environmental Paper Network in response to the growing threat to forests from the rise of industrialized biomass energy production. Since then we have united more than 200 NGOs across the world around a shared vision to protect forests from the large-scale burning of wood for energy.
We connect and enable collaboration between organizations from all around the world who are campaigning on forest, climate, and biomass issues. We unite to shape policies from local levels to international UNFCCC conferences. We collaborate together at various times, such as the annual International Day of Action.
The Biomass Action Network has global, regional and thematic email lists and organizes monthly global meetings, as well as regional and thematic meetings. We also facilitate ad hoc groups which form for specific projects, such as Planning for UN Climate negotiations (Climate COPs), and our International Day of Action.
The Biomass Action Network is coordinated by Reija Mikkkola (Policy and Networking) and Sophie Bastable (Strategy and Organization) If you are interested in joining one of the subgroups, please contact Sophie Bastable.
